My name is Sherwood “Woody” Belangia and I teach philosophy at Georgia Regents University in Augusta, GA. This blog is primarily an attempt to develop ideas publicly about my “Defective Reading” of Plato’s Republic in anticipation of a book on this theme. My thoughts on Plato have been gestating a long time, almost thirty years, so I suppose it is long past time to attempt to try to give birth to something.

You’re so right about genius: I was gobsmacked when I came across your site and your piece “What is Mimetic Theory?” It explains ideas I have long felt but for which I lacked context to explain them. Thank you so much that! I write about the relationship of people to their homes and communities at Habicurious.com and wondered if I might reproduce this on my site, adding my comments and, of course, the correct attribution? Hello there, I was researching memetic theory and found your synopsis of Gerard’s ideas very useful. I first heard about his ideas on a radio program on CBC radio in Canada.
